I'm trying to grow out my nails. Any tips or tricks that will help?

I have a bad habit of biting my nails but I've stopped and am trying to grow out my nails. I need tips on how to make them grow faster or how to groom them? I've tryed to grow them out before and they always look weird. Some are round and some are more square. And after they get a little long they stop growing
