Hey fellas,
I'm trying to format my comp because it has many shits on it, and i want to put vista on it. the only problem is, i dont have the xp os cd, is there a way to format it without said cd? please help.

P.S. im running windows xp home edition, i dont know if that helps, oh, its also a fairly old verson of home dition, like, 2000 or 2001 maby.

1. boot to vista dvd
2. when you get to the list of partitions, delete the current one, and create a new one.
3. continue with setup
4. ????
5. profit

Unless you see the "To boot from Cd press spacebar" sign, chances are that you're going to have to delete it through W98se's format utility. But chances are that you don't have that, which means that you're going to have to look at what type of disk drive you have then download the appropriate software from the manufacturer. If you knew Linux you could use its utilities to wipe it out (but don't format it).

Not really, unless you consider floppies. Chances are that if you can get into the Vista set up you can manually select the partition to delete, then format, then install. There's a work around for a fresh install of Vista using the upgrade Vista version, but I usually only buy fresh install packages since I refuse to deal with upgrade problems (after all why bother when what we really want to do is install a fresh registry?)
