seperate rod and reel for each? i'm really confused on how you set up a crank bait or topwater lure. Do you attach it straight onto the line or can u put a swivel on it, which allows me to just switch the bait faster????
 
Tie direct to the lure. I use 2 different rods for these techniques but you can use just one. I use mono line for top water because it floats and flouro for crank baits due to its sinking properties. I used one rod for years and did just fine so dont feel obligated to go out and but another rig. At times I still use my top water rod when I fish wake baits or shallow running (1-3ft) crank baits.
