The longer you wait, the worse it's gonna be, and they're gonna find out somehow, so it's best they here it from you. And maybe take some preventative measures for the next time, do all your HW (that can be big), study for your tests, and if you just don't understand the material, don't be afraid to ask the teacher, that's what they're there for. There's no shame in staying after for extra help.
