out of state? I was the victim of an assault and hospitalized with over 5000$ worth of medical bills because aggressor thought I told his girlfriend he was cheating. They pressed for aggravated assault and it was dropped because he came in with a lawyer that cost more then my medical bills, I had a law school student on my side.. Anyways since I was "Jumped" by about 10-15 people, one person leading them all. I dident file a civil suit for restitution or anything.. I just wanted to be done with the entire thing. Anyways for fear of being a "Snitch" and considering I have no idea who the rest of these people are.. I moved out of state back to where i'm from 800 miles away.. Right before leaving I received a letter saying I'd be subpoena'd, I tried calling the D.A to explain to them my situation however they have not returned my call.. This is on the City level, I spoke to one of my police friends and they said if its out of the courts jurisdiction they can't do anything, I'm just curious if I really have to go back and have the lawyer try and act like it was my fault, ive had enough.

Not to mention, I put a roof over the kids head spent countless hours driving him to his girls house never to see a dime or a favor back... and this is how i'm repayed.
Thanks for the answer, How would they send me the subpoena if they don't know where I moved? I tried calling the DA Multiple times to try and work something out.. I moved back in with my friend 800 miles away from where it happened.. It's not like a quick get away, I know how they can't turn it around on me and I can't be charged with anything but.. It'd be a hassle to go back and when I lived where it happened, I wouldent go back into that town inless I was doing my volunteer work, I'm a firefighter/Emt and the guy who did it to me has an extensive record of violent offenses.

If there is a subpoena for you to appear you should plan on being there. I would call the actual court and speak to the clerk. A subpoena means you are summoned to appear, it doesnt matter what jurisdiction you live in,. I dont know who gave you that advice-it is not correct. I perfectly understand that you dont want to go but I assume since you didnt file a civil suit that this is one brought by the CIty ATTORNEY or DA. They will serve as your lawyer. If they are on trial, they cannot turn around and blame you, the DA isnt going to stand for that. One thing, the court will ask you to spell out your address-you might want to ask the prosecutor if you can refuse but if you cant-use a mail box or someone elses address-because there really is no protection for you.
