Hey all, I'm 18 years old and i suffered from Acne and some red marks.
I did nothing..when it first started; which is about 2 years ago..and it was kind of wierd..cause 1 day i wake up with obvious acne and red marks..and the next i wake up with a clear face and hardly any acne and red marks..but then the wrost began, the Acne was turning into pain !! And by that time i couldnt handle it anymore..so i went to a dermatologist..and as soon as i got in..i got out..the doctor said "Why did u come here? You barley have any Acne, so anyways after i insistenced that i hate the way i look and that the pimples really hurt..he gave me: "PanOxyl" and "EXFOLIAC".
I started using them, but soon the pain transformed into irritating dry skin..and the acne was still there including the red marks.
So i stoped using them..and after a year..which is about now i tried using an Antibiotic called: "Fucidin" ... which i touhght would be affective as many recommended to me..but too bad it didnt work, actually i think its getting worse..so i now i'm confused and i seriously dont know what to do or use..so i think i need all the help i need. :dizzy:

I use PanOxyl, and it also made my skin incredibly dry. But I continued using it twice a day, with spot treatment and an oil free moisturizer, and now my face is almost completely cleared up. For me, I just had to wait through the "dry spell."

I too am 19 years old and have been suffering from severe acne for years. I've tried just about everything. Differen, Zoderm gels, zoderm cleansers, erycette paRAB, doxycycline, tetracycline, you name it. i do get temporary results, but the topical medications require a ton of maintenance. Also, even when i do have "clear" skin, my face is red or oily or dry, or shockingly--both at once. the oral medication has pretty much stopped having any effect since ive been on it (Doxy) for almost 3 years. I do not want to take Acutane, becuase I am afraid of severe side effects. My dermotologist said it was an option, but not necessary since while i have "florid" acne, it is "superficial" and not deep cystic acne (which is what Acutane usually treated).
I went to a gyn recently since i had irregular perioRAB and thought there would be a connection with my skin. She perscribed Yaz birth control and said my acne would really clear up. So far i have been on the pill for over a month and see no change whatsoever. Ive been told that it takes 2-3 months for your body to adjust, but I know of people who have seen results after days.
Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone been on Yaz (this is NOT Yasmin) for the treatment of acne? did it help?

Well, too bad for me..i cant take the dryness !! my face used to be the softest and clearest skin ever..till i started using PanOxyl..and i didnt use it for like only a couple of weeks..i did for about 2 months ! and nothin happened.
Only pain and disturbing dryness..so i guess i'm going to another dermatologist..i hope he wont luagh at me, cause although i got 1 small red mark and 3 or 4 pimples..they really mess up my clear face :p

There are a few things I do so I don't get acne. I wash my face at least twice a day. I use those oil of olay daily facial scrubs. I had a bad acne problem as a teenager until I used those. To keep my face from getting dry I use a natural lotion that I got at a health store. That has really kept my face looking nice. Try not to eat too much junk food. The only time I seem to get acne is if I eat too much junk food for a week or 2. Try using flax oil or evening primrose oil. Do not take evening primrose oil if you're on seizure meRAB or even if you occasionally experience seizures.

I suffered when I ws younger for about 4 years. My acne was real bad. Very painful. I was given many different medications both topical and oral - nothing worked. I was not getting any better. Ran into my pediatrition (sp) from when I was a little kid and he said get some white Dove soap and Purpose moisturizer and that is it. After 3 weeks my acne was gone. Not sure if any of you have tried this but it is worth a try.

Guys,
Your all so young. If I knew then what I know now at 37, the last 20+ years would've been alot easier. You need to understand that your bodies are in a state of natural insulin resistance. When you eat high glycemic fooRAB, candy, soda anything with sugar or refined grains-white bread, pizza, cookies, donuts all the good stuff basically. You're sending blood sugar on a wild ride and you're body is forced to produce more insulin to deal with it. Because you're body is busy with so many other functions, like growing you into strong and healthy adults, it can't handle the unhealthy amount of high glycemic carbs coming in. Bottom line, look into the posts on diet and acne. The books I recommend are The Dietary Cure for Acne by Loren Cordain, it's an ebook costs around $20 and The Clear Skin Prescription by Nicholas Perricone. You don't need to buy these books if you scour these boarRAB for all the tips myself and others have left on how to control acne with diet. You won't cure it, there is no cure. Acne is your bodies reaction to a hormonal irabalance cause by a myriad of factors. It just so happens that what you eat can help balance your hormones. I'd be happy to help you with any questions you have. But take it from a lifer, some of you may grow out of it and these quick fixes from meRAB, bc and topicals will help, but for those of us where this is life time problem, you'll want to learn the ways to help yourself with diet.

WOW !! i got it..u know i'v been eating about 3 junkfood meals for about 3 weeks..and eating aloooot of chocolates :o so i guess thats why i got the sudden pimples.
I was just trying to get fat..cause i'm really thin, i'm 18 years old, 5.9 feet, 122 pounRAB  so i thought that eating junk and alot of sweets will make me gain some weight..
