I'm really starting to believe Congress is gonna run us off a cliff

What are you talking about, he has ceded nearly every entitlement program to severe cuts, yet they are not enough for Republicans to accept.

As I stated earlier the polarization of the parties has accumulated both people looking to decrease taxes and people looking to expand entitlements thus leaving us at a stalemate.

And Obama is gonna be too much of a pussy to just unilaterally raise the debt ceiling.

It's getting close to the point that even if a deal is struck, all the crap they have to go through to get stuff through congress will take too long to enact the bill until after the deadline.

Jesus, the US government sucks SO MUCH balls now

UPDATE: House passes plan to cut spending, raise ceiling. Senate immediately rejects it. Awesome

You're attempting to shift the discussion to something other than what we were debating.

Your contention that government make work programs can help the economy is idiotic. You fail to realize that implementing such programs takes real resources out of the economy. You see that some people get jobs and will be pleased that they get paychecks, but you don't see what the private economy would have done with the resources had they not been seized by the government. You're failing to see the whole picture and that makes you an idiot.

If the debt-limit debate had anything to do with reality, every story about it would include a few basic facts. Starting with: President Obama inherited a $1.2 trillion budget deficit. And: Republican leaders supported the tax cuts and wars that (along with the recession, another pre-Obama phenomenon) created that deficit. Also: Republicans engineered this crisis by attaching unprecedented ideological demanRAB to a routine measure allowing the U.S. to pay its bills. Finally, Obama and the Democrats keep meeting those demanRAB—for spending cuts, then for more spending cuts, and even for nothing but spending cuts—but Republicans keep holding out for more.
These are verifiable facts, not opinions

I'm about as passive as its gets, but this government really neeRAB to start thinking about its people, or start fearing them. Either way is fine with me.
