im planning to buy a fish and a bird?

im going to purchase those zebra looking striped fish from a pet store, and do they need a 20 gallon tank just to survive? because last time, i didnt have a tank, so i just put it into a bowl, and it survived like say 4 months with out food or other stuff you need, just water. I might purchase like 10 goldfishes, because the pet store sells them 19cents each. do they need big tanks too?

I am also going to purchase a bird, those $19 dollar birds, all kinds of colours, their small though.. they have black and white stripes on their head.. what is needed for the bird?
 
well it would be best to get a tank w/ a filter well its a gallon for every inch the fish is so it depends on the gallons. you might wanna seperate the gold fish and the other fish because the goldfish will die from the heat you need for the other fish sorry but i cant help with the bird thing goodluck
