I'm looking to get jst a normal bicycle for bike trails, but i don't know

what i should be looking for? so im 16, female and i want to get a bicycle for on the bike trail and stuff but what kind do i get? a road bike or mtn bike? what brand is good? how can i tell if its what im looking for?
