I had the book when I was little so it's probably more than fifteen or twenty years old now. It's about an orphan named bridgette who gets behind during a field trip to a dog cemetery with the other girls from the orphanage. She gets brought home by an old lady, and then does all sorts of things like letting all the dogs loose from the pound, so the lady will think she's bad and won't adopt her. Other things about the story, on holidays they put a dry bean in the cake and whatever girl got the bean would get a prize. The girl who took them on the field trip, her name was genevieve, and the reason she gets left behind is because another girl who was assigned to count them, accidentally counted genevieve instead. Does anyone recognise this book?
