I enjoy all genres, except for metal of any kind - i can't stand screamo - or rap where i cannot understand the words. Enlighten me please.
 
Some old stuff that is still being played includes Danny Boy, Unchained Melody, Orange Blossom Special, hymns such as Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art, and possibly some old country songs but I don't listen to country stations much so I don't know which ones are still popular. I think some Elton John songs are still popular.
 
Good bands from now(ish): The Black Keys, Ash, Say Anything, Arctic Monkeys, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather, Zooey Deschanel, Ingrid Michaelson, Bright Eyes, Mumford & Sons, Pixies, Pomplamoose.
Good bands from then: Frank Sinatra, Django Reinhardt, Fred Astaire, 4 Non Blondes.
