The Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner's underlying meaning is about abortion,(The speaker is the ball turret gunner, who represents an aborted fetus), so it's not a poem I would like to use, but I do really like this poem. BUT OF COURSE, THE SNOWMAN!!! I can't believe I forgot about it! Thank you so much for reminding me! :)

The most famous recent poem about flying - and one of the best - is Randall Jarrell's 'The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner'.

But I have also posted a link to something you will probably like better.
