I'm looking for an older classic movie involving a boy and a girl with two

different religions.? It could possibly be a black and white film. The girl and boy fix up an old dirty building into a club house (or like that), with a table, chairs and other home style furnishings. There is also a small pet which happens to die; the boy states that the pet is to be buried according to his faith and the girl is sad and wishes to perform a prayer by her faith. The boy and girl also sneak into each others worship centers to discover more about each others faith; I believe one is Jewish and the other Catholic. The boy and girl dream of sailing away (or something) and they take (or borrow) a raft and the boy paddles them down a stream. Somehow they loose control of the raft and it becomes a very scarry situation (then my mind can't remember what is next). Towards the end of the movie, you have a scene where the Rabbi (I think) and the Priest pass each other and express good tidings (or something) to each other. I thought that this was a wonderfully warm and cute story and it would be nice to watch again. (I did view this on television). Thanks.
