My favorite poets have always been Sylvia Plath (Lady Lazarus) and John Donne (Elegy XX aka On His Mistress Going To Bed). Do you have a preference for a certain style or time period? If so, it would help people narrow down their suggestions.

‘’ CANADA IS CALLING ME’’

Have your journey from wherever you be,
Come to Canada and for yourself see.
Be bold it’s the best of summers,
Yes the best of winters too and spring.
As for autumn there is no comparison,
In the cloudy weather and morning dew,
It will be lovely weather for you.

There is plenty of water, hot and cold
There is no failure of electricity that’s fore told ,
And there is plenty to eat, drink and be merry,
Enjoy peaches , strawberries, and the best of cherry,

Just as I was about to land,
The welcome I thought will be with a band.
It was so warm there was no storm,
And the people all around were kind,
Of my youth they all did me remind .

As I stepped out of the air- port,
The brightness was all sun – shone,
And after another moment it was all gone.
When I landed there was no cloud,
The Canadians were, ever so proud.
Suddenly they came from somewhere,
Heaven really knows from where.
A little more up the highway it began to rain,
I thought it was some passing train.

When I entered the room for my nights’ stay
There was warmth all the way.
And then truly I was happy to be in Canada,
After all ‘twas warm and sunny, even in the veranda.

Do not go out today, you may freeze,
The wind is blowing and really it’s cool breeze.
If you step out you may feel the chill,
Come to Canada and stay indoors still,
Enjoy ice skating, swimming and dance,
And of course friendly, just friendly, romance.

CANADA IS CALLING THEE

Roses

Hello friends its roses again,
Roses all the way,
Only will roses ever stay,
Upon your coat button and as flowers
In a vase and ‘ Roses’ as a name for you
And then someone will say,
Roses are red
Violets are blue,
Call a rose by any other name
Still I t’ ll be true.

Roses will remain the way they are,
Their smell travels very far,
From London to Australia
Or the bottom of the sea,
Where Jack Dawson was said to be born free.

Had there been no Titanic there would
Have been no’ Rose’,
Also no ‘Hello Canada’, to compose,
Yes my friend would have to say
‘’Why do I have to wear clothes’’ today.

Another of my fans ‘Hassan’ would have no romance,
Without a Rose,’ Hello Canada’, would have no stance.
Kroshta, or Cleopatra yes, Greek woman,
Any other person, American may be Roman,
Nor Solitaire would have been,
On the internet ever seen.

For roses sure are red and violets are still blue,
My love for Canada is, as much it is for you.
Roses will sell the way they usually do.
Hopefully you all will display
when’ Hello’ does go,
‘’Gone With The Wind’’, He hopes so,
And does every remind,
Sweet memories of roses
He would leave behind.

Roses are red and always will be
Beautiful flowers for you and me,
Let heavens strip dead,
But roses will always ,always be red.
