but it has a reddish power on it.? I asked the guy about it because I use a chain wax. He said he lubes it every 500 miles, but when the lube dries, it has a reddish powder. Are there lubes out there that have that kind of grit to them after they dry?

Mine is greasy and kinda "wet". His was dry because of the powder, but it had some stickyness. So just wondering.
 
That red powder is RUST. It means the bike will need a new chain soon, and perhaps new sprockets in the bargain.

The SV650 is a very nice bike! Just make sure the price you pay is adjusted for money you'll need to spend down the road.

(Look carefully at the teeth of the sprocket on the rear wheel. You can tell if it's worn.)
