In a good way of course. (I think?)
I must have been completely out of it during this show's run on Toonami or Viz has some crazy mind-control powers because I started to watch the original and Jesus.....
This show is completely insane! I mean, it has moments of awesome, Tear Jerker's and all that good stuff, but when it's not doing that, it's being absolutely nuts. The insane faces, the intense physical humor, the perverted jokes, oh god, the insane level of perverted jokes. It's like Akira Toriyama but without the subtlety. Surprisingly, this isn't a bad thing for me at all. It's just more of a "I'm just re-discovering this show and I realize what is really happening in it" kind of feeling. (The fanboy in me is overjoyed that Rie Kugimiya was in this)
Also, is it just me or does this show have an incredibly high nuraber of random songs? Like more than an anime naturally should. It's like Phineas and Ferb's musical nurabers if you fused it with a Mon's show. I mean, off the top of my head alone we had that "Muteki Folgore," (which, I've heard like 5 times over the course of the episodes I've watched) Coral Q's song that clearly belonged in a Super Robot anime, "Watashi wa Patie-chan," (Did not know that was Sheh in the dub singing that) Big Boing's dance (Nebanebaneba...Nebaneba ), "Chichi wo Oppai..." and wow, these songs are getting perverted...(Why is Chichi wo Oppai so damn addicting!? It's worse than Ducktales!)
And of course, I finally got to watch an anime in which Norio Wakamoto sings and it is awesome.
Jeez, what a difference a few years makes in opinion for a show.
