is that a good guitar? Yea, I've heard that i yamaha is a poor man's guitar but i cant afford a gibson or martin or anything really nice. but is that guitar going to have a good sound to it and all that good stuff? also, I've thought about the fg700 model as well, is one gonna sound much different than the other? thanks

Yamaha's are cheap guitars as you said, but I would recommend an Ibanez. That was my first guitar and it was $250. I got the GRG170DX, it looks good and has nice tone for a firdt guitar. The models don't make as much of a different as much as the quality of your amp.

My experience with quality instruments is to take a look at how long they have been able to sell a particular model. Those who keep replacing with new models, are having difficulty satisfying buyers.
Ibanez has a proven record.

Yeah, like the guy above me, I was going to recommend either an Ibanez or Fender. Theyve got some really nice starter acoustics, and they don't half bad.

I would stray away from yamaha. Most of their stuff seems pretty low-quality. I'd say because instead of focusing on one product, they branch out their focus and money into many different things.

They make guitars, they make drumsets, hell, they even make motorcycles...
