baby,

I don't know if you remeraber but I told you that I was having the same problem with my face being itchy. Well last night around 2am i was trying to lay down and sleep but my face was just to itchy. So I got up to put anti-itch stuff on. And started to get a panic atttack so so mym mom in my room to stay with me and we ended up looking all my pills and creams up to see there side effects and the klaron's side effects said itchy, rash small red bumps, so blah blah blah. At first I was thinking that it was the prenisone be/c it said it causes acne and itchy and blah blah but the bumps around my jawline really don't even look like pimple you know. So I called the derm dr (I was going to just wait till the 16th when my appointment was but I was getting worried) and he said that it does sound like I'm allergic to the klaron and to stop all topicals and stay on the pills. So it looks like it's the same thing for both of us. He told me to just wipe my face with a warm wash cloth (but it's too rough it rips my pimples) and to put that cortaid on my face.

Well I don't think it is just the Klaron that I am allergic to because it itches when I apply just the differin at night too! I just don't understand it. I almost had a panic attack about it too isn't that weird? I think I am gonna wake up in the morning and apply only moisturizer after I wash and see what happens. If I don't itch then I'll know it is the topicals doing this. I just didn't want to stop the topicals because I feel like they are my only hope! I have a huge whitehead on my chin but other than that I am pretty clear but I had NO pimples at all while on the doxy. I got this big whitehead after I stopped it. Could that be a sign my face is about to start breaking out again?

There probably is a connection between your skin irritation and going off of Doxy. I don't know if this is related, but my dog recently started getting irritated skin. You could tell because he has white fur and his skin started turning pinkish. We took him to the vet, and he said that it is bacteria so they put my dog on antibiotics.

Its possible that without Doxy the natural bacteria are returning to your skin, and hopefully your immune system will catch on and start fighting it off. Its good you are going off Doxy since you don't want to become resistent to it.

Good luck!!!! Let us know how it goes.

I have posted on here and haven't had too many replies so I am gonna try again. I have been on Doxy for about 2 yrs. I have weaned myself off of it and been off now for 2 weeks. No breakouts or anything and I continued to use the same topicals and make- up I have always used. Klaron and Differin. My skin suddenly got so itchy and dry and irritated but no oil at all. I also take Yasmin for birth control. My skin is hurting so bad. What should I do? Is it possible my acne is gone and I should stop the topicals? It seems to quit hurting and itching when I don't use them. And my skin is not oily at all anymore. I just don't understand this! Anyone with advice?

 Meruru just a little advice about your beautiful lil doggie there... after the antib. treatment start placing about 2 tblsp. of olive oil in his food everyday.
Dont wash him often (w/shampoo) just rinse him, leave the natural oils on his coat and dont cut the hair (some people do this during summer months its a no no) They need that for protection if they are an outdoor doggie ;) Also I dont know what breed you have but a little heaRAB up thats valuable info for everyone who has a dog...Dog fooRAB with corn meal in the first 3 ingredients sometimes causes infections...so when going to the dog food isle flip the bag over and look to the first 3 ingredients (no corn meal... good) the further down the corn meal is the better for your dog

Misty good one Im gonna hafta try that one myself! Thanks for the heaRAB up!

Baby I wanted to add...Im a caregiver and as a rule of thurab I usually take everything the Doc says with a grain of salt because they always reply in general terms. Get my drift? In otherworRAB What is likely for one patient may not be the case with another. Our biology is different from one person to the next so symptoms/reactions are never going to be the same. Any good doc knows that. I would say take a look at reactions/side effects to the specific med you were on..You can find sites online that will give this information Google it and see if it comes up I do it all the time with my MIL's meRAB to see what side effects there are to different drugs. If you cant find it give a hollar and Ill give directions to the site I use Ok....

My derm told me that it will take a couple days for the itching to stop be/c they (the topicals) are in my skin now you know. So give it a couple days. But really I would be a little afraid not to be on something. You said your face was fine on a bc pill why.... oh yea you said you are on yasmin now right? I think in a couple months when your body gets used to it (I dont know how long u've been on it ) but be/c your body is still not normal be/c of going off doxy I think u will be fine. Maybe on period time u may get one but i think u'll be fine. Oh and you are going on spiro or just started it? I think i remeraber talking to you about it? but i dont remeraber maybe you should think about going on that if you aren't already. I'm on day 16. I can't wait for this all to be over!!

Yes Cheyenne I think you are right. I just know it has something to do with the Doxy. I am just so confused about what to do. I figured that when I went to my derm. he would know if this was normal or not. Well he said it wasn't so I don't know? I am really upset I guess I just need to go have a few drinks with my girlfrienRAB tonight and forget about it for a while. Well I would like some more advice if anyone wants to give any! Thanks!

I was on Alesse for over two years and never had acne in my life. Then I stopped it for about 3 months cause it made me gain weight and I wanted to lose some. That is when my face started breaking out really bad. I went to the derm. and he put me on Doxy, Klaron, Differin and Yasmin. I started them all at the same time so I really don't know which one worked the best. Well it has been 2 years of consistent use of all of those. My derm. wanted me to stop Doxy. so I still use everything else just not that. That is when this itching started. Last night I used the Differin but I applied less and guess what no itching today? Maybe I have just been overdoing it on the topicals? I don't know guess we will see........

yeah I asked my derm. if he had ever had any patients that had succesfully quit an antibiotic and their acne never came back. He said yes and they stayed on topicals and that I can use those forever. Well maybe I don't want to use nasty topicals forever! Well I went out tonight and got some stress out but I know I will feel like crap in the morning anyway. I just want this itching and burning to go away!

For me, it seems that everytime I change my skin regimin it upsets the delicately balanced ecosystem on my skin. After a few days or a week my skin will adjust. So it is possible that your skin is in the process of adjusting to the absense of Doxy.

How long has it been itchy and irritated? If its only been a week, its possible that it will adjust. And if not, I agree with the above advice and see your derm.

More advice....club soda lime twist! Alchohol is not good for alot of peoples skin...;) Sorry love! Really... a cyber drink now theres da solution! Oh yea and no hangover ta boot lol! Come on baby... I know but you need to laugh get those endorphines up an runnin! Nothin like findin a way to laugh each and everyday its good for your soul babygirl!;)

I would take benadryl (OTC allergy medicine) and see if that helps, it sounRAB like an allergic reaction. Also, I use Eucerin Calming Redness Relief cleanser and I like it a lot...it's very soothing. You can only get it at drugstores, and it's kinda expensive. If you don't want to use that, try aloe after you wash. I think you should stop or decrease using your topicals till this goes away as well. Good luck!

Thanks for any replies I can get! I have been off Doxy for about 2 weeks but the itching started after I had been off for a week so it has been itching for about 5 days now. Taking ibuprofen is helping but as soon as it wears off the itching and tingling comes back. I saw my derm. yesterday and he said that he can't diagnose anything he can't see. Cause when you look at me my skin looks fine but it is hurting and annoying! He told me I needed to get my thyroid levels checked and a few other blood tests. I have hypothyroidism by the way. I am hoping it will just go away eventually! I wanna die right now! It is just weird that it all started when I stopped the doxy.

I haven't read through this entire thread so I apologize in advance if somebody else has already suggested this. If your skin is itching, I would suggest finding some sort of light facial moisturizer that contains aloe vera. I hope you find some relief soon!

You might try what I do for Rosacea itch/dryness. I use a little PonRAB Cream (blue lid) and a little Benydril Gel and apply to my itchy forehead. It is working great and does not clog the pores.

Good one Steffers! The Eucerin products are the best! They are a little pricey but well worth it. I even get a little essential oil and add it to the body lotion it stays fresh till the end!

Babygirl this may sound a little strange but it could be withdrawls??? Since you have been taking it for 2 years it will take a while to get out of your system because basically this med is apart of your very being. Your tissue is irabedded with it...First drink lots of water, do this for at least a month... up to 8 glasses a day to flush your system as some drugs stay with you for a while. Have you tried iceing your face or misting your face with purified water when this happens? Sometimes this helps a little. Buy replenishment makeup if its fairly old and you were using it while on the med as its tainted now. I hope this helps :)

Yasmin is supposed to reduce the production of oil in your skin.
Maybe it is the corabination of less oil and the topical creams that
are drying your skin out. Try skipping the topicals for a couple of
days and see if it improves.

;)
