Im in hs thinking about careers, but im afraid cause of $. Any tips & career advice?

I'm a 3rd year in high school. I've always wanted to design video games or work with computers, but now I'm not so sure. I want to do what I love, but money is a factor, and I feel like game developers don't have the salary I'd be comfortable with. I want to set my sights as early as possible so I can focus my studies because I want to be one of the best in my field. My mother is a dermatologist, and I've considered going the surgeon path, or maybe some other doctor. Any advice? Thanks
