I'm having a problem with my verizon wireless W385 cell phone.. please help!?

I was in the middle of texting someone because they are tux shopping for prom, and he was sending me a picture of the vest he was about to purchase. however, it said it failed to download (i had no service) so i turned my phone off then back on, and when i went to my messages, it said there was no messages in my inbox or sent box when i had about 60 in both. i turned my phone off and then on again, but the same thing happened. i tried going to my contact list, and picking, "send text message," but no blank message shows up. so basically, i can't recieve messages, send them, or even type them. its like texting had been completely wiped off my phone! its insane. I asked my parents if they blocked it, even by accident maybe, and they said they didn't, they even checked. my phone is about a year and 3 months old, and my contract expires in november.

what should i do? should i take it to verizon, or what?
 
i have your same phone...do *611... its free and it works, talk to who you need to.
