I had my engine tested because my check engine light, plus a lot of other lights are on and the guy told me I had a lot of bad sensors like cranking sensors, spark plug sensors, catalyst converter sensors, etc. I wanted to know if I had my motor rebuilt, would it fix those sensors? Like what do they actually do when they rebuild a motor or is it better to try and find another motor?

you don't need to rebuild it, just replace the sensors. Take the car to Auto Zone, or Advanced Auto. They will tell you exactly what sensors are bad,........you may have a computer issue since so many sensors are reading bad,....or more than likely, the person you took the car to is trying to rip you off. If he told you the crank sensor was bad and the car runs at all,.he's lying. A bad cramk sensor and the mototr WILL NOT START!! Auto Zone and Advanced Auto will diagnose the problem for free, all you have to do is drive the car there. GOODN LUCK! Rob in PA.

Sensors are the information path that the computer uses to control the engine. These are external and some times internal devices that have set limits. It is when the device exceeds the allowable limit that it sets a code and turns on the check engine light. The motor might be just fine, but only have a faulty sensor. Example; TPS= Throttle Position Sensor, this tells the computer how far you are pressing on the gas pedal. At idle it will have a pre set voltage of .72 volts and wide open throttle would be very close to 5 volts. Now if the idle voltage is .99 it would set a code for the TPS because it has exceeded the allowable limit. Now is the TPS bad? could be or it could be a dirty throttle body that is holding the throttle open too far and giving a false voltage reading. Do not assume it to be bad, confirm your suspicions before throwing parts at it.
