10 Mbps? I have Embarq High Speed Internet, now Century Link. My service has drastic and I mean drastically decreased over the past few days, more than ever. It is taking over an hour to download the iTunes application (80 MB - megabytes). Youtube videos buffer at least 10 times for a 10 minute video, so like every minute. I'm sure you get the picture.
No updates to computer or internet browsers. I am using firefox and have tried chrome still the same speed, and don't get me started on internet explorer that has always acted slow and bogged down my cpu usage.
There is no higher speed offered my Embarq (Centurylink) in my area or on their website, and we have always had issues not getting what they told us we could get speed wise. Not even close normally around 1 to 3 Mbps, we were suppose to get 10 Mbps.
I have unplugged modem and router numerous times. I have let it sit for hours unplugged then plugged back in, still no increase. I also have reset the modem. There is really nothing more I can do from my end unless I have forgotten something or I need to leave their company.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your time.
I have left a message through their contact page, waiting on reply.

Yeah, I just read their data rules and such and it say their "Performance will vary due to conditions outside of network control and no speed is guaranteed." Great so they can say, hey will give you "up to 10Mbps", but don't have to give you anything, plus there is an early termination fee. At least I should have to worry about the early termination fees.
I don't do online gaming or intensive data consumption so there is no way we are reaching a monthly cap, and is not written in our contract as far as I know or our bill.
I have virus protection and scan regularly. Clear my browser cache, etc. All the regular browser etiquette and such. Being using a computer since I was 10 years old, 19 now, so I know my way around the computer.
I use the basic router settings, not keys or anything. I am still getting slow speed even through the cable. Never had this bad of a signal in all of our service with the company. Can't be holiday congestion because it is constant throughout the whole day, and I check more than one website, all websites are slow and some are not even that popular to be bogged down.
I actually did all my testing with just one computer on the network, spend about 4 hours too, LOL. I was on the internet at my home during thanksgiving and christmas week for more than 6 hours that whole week, this week has been the worst service yet, but on christmas and thanksgiving week I had my normal rates around (1-3 Mbps).
