Okay I put myself on this diet that I"m kinda sorta sticking to ok. I quit drinking soda, and I stopped eating out though I admit if I do miss dinner because of my night classes I will get something lite from Del Taco. I'm cooking A LOT more at home now, a lot...lot.

So I lost ten pounds! Whee making me go from 350 to 340 (I'm 5'4 BTW) so I wanted to buy something fun to lose weight with, I thought about getting a Wii Fit but then I reconsidered since I'm not much of a gamer and it's too much since I have to buy the Wii Console as well. So Eh.

My question is, do anyone know a really good brand of bikes that supports big people such as myself? Last bike I had it didn't support me so I bent the seat forward and uh...you know that joke about Nuns riding bikes without seats? I didn't have as much fun as they did apparently.

So if you can help me, please do!

Thanks!
I love walking, I really do. Espeically with my iPod on. Though when I walk I have a habit of "Pacing." Not just back and forth but my arms go up in the air like I"m a bird trying to fly...at least that's what I'm told. ._.; I really get a work out with that when I stop and realize how hard I'm breathing.

This bike is something to get me outside more, I may act like I'm full of concidence but that's just from finally feeling happy about college, really I want to get something to take out and ride to the store. Also, I wanna save gas money...stupid gas prices.

Thanks to all those who have answered so far!

I agree with you - walking is fun but cycling gives you more freedom of movement. Being overweight, cycling is a great option, since it's low impact.

Bikes to look out for will need a sturdy frame (steel or aluminum), strong wheels (a high spoke count & a strong rim) and stay away from front suspension.
Mountain bikes or hybrids would be ideal. Their bike fit is reasonably relaxed & you won't be uncomfortably hunched over the handlebars, but sitting more upright instead.
Keep an eye on the air preassure your tyres & make sure they're pumped up fully.
Try to maintain a steady spin, because it's easier on your joints & focuses more on cardio that way.
Go to your local bike shop & try out bikes to see what best suits you & ask the staff any questions you may have, because a comfy bike equals a happy cyclist

If you are going to use your bike for doing errands, a rear rack & panniers come in really handy. Or maybe put a basket on the handlebars instead.

Happy riding, may all the winds be tailwinds.
