Well, I am a 13 year old overweight girl, and since I am young, I'm supposed to have a high metabolism, right? Well, I have been exercising for a month on the elliptical an hour a day, and nothing has changed. I'm feeling better and more energized, but I'm not losing any weight. Oh yeah, between each 10 minute interval I rest for 4 minutes, so my body doesn't hold on to my weight and go into "Survival Mode." I'm eating healthy and as much as I should, so why could this be?
It runs in my family that we weigh more than we look. I weigh 180 pounds, but the doctor says I look like I weigh about 120 and the weight is just muscle weight, because muscle is heavier than fat. Shouldn't that mean I burn more calories that way?
I didn't gain any weight, and my body isn't in survival mode because I rest between intervals when I exercise and I eat as much as I should. And last summer I was losing weight by riding my bike everyday.
