air and jump off a clif? The blanket is 5 by 11 and the cliff is i believe my teacher said 47 feet high exactly. my teacher said that if I poke about 120 tiny pin sized holes around the sides and in a box pattern in the middle it would hold and give me a good landing far from the rocks close to the base. I really want to get extra credit for this project and since my physics teacher says that method could work ill try it. what do you think of the idea?
 
Any fall greater than 2 metres is considered dangerous. Either your teacher is highly negligent and/or has a death wish for you. In the Holy name of Physics, don't jump.
 
I wouldn't try it... But that's just me... I'm not sure you would have enough drag, not to mention the fact that the blanket might slip out of your hands... If you could somehow fasten yourself to it maybe....
 
You could certainly do this, but I doubt you will land ok. There is a very good chance you will die, or suffer many broken bones.

I doubt your teacher actually advised you to do this, but if he/she actually did, you should report that to the principle and the teacher will be in serious trouble.

The difficulty is correctly attaching ropes to the blanket and to you. Odds are the ropes will get tangled, or the blanket will tear, or it will not be properly tied to you (Impossible to just hold the ropes), and you will die, as mentioned above.
