I know it has to be a digital SLR because my friend who already goes to the same college told me, but im not sure what camera to get?
I haven't got LOADS of money but i have enough so if anyone has any suggestions for brands or models please let me no :)
thanks!
nothing over £500, preferably around £200 though :)

You friend is just a pupil, so why not ask the person who REALLY knows.

The tutor at the college.

Also, how much money do you have.

Some people may have £2K to spend and think its not a lot, so please tell us how much roughly.

Before you spend over $500 on a DSLR with standard zoom lens, talk to one of your instructors and find out not only what kind of camera, lenses you need, but the other accessories you need for the first few classes. You may be surprised to find you need a 35 mm SLR in the beginning.

When you say you don't have loads of money, you need to know that photography is NOT an inexpensive major. You need to talk more about the actual costs associated with the major and your friend could be helpful when you make out your budget for school

For now spend a lot of time in your local camera store and get to know, personally, the various features of the two brands of DSLR's professional photographers use, Nikon and Canon.
