My younger sister called today and said her best friend is pregnant. They are both 19 and the other girl hasn't told her parents yet. She lives on her own and is a college student. The other girl asked my sister to call and ask me advice and I told her i'd do some research. They live in Illinois, I don't so I'm not sure what to do there. She obviously has no health insurance and no way she can afford medical bills, and delivery. As far as I know her and her boyfriend are going to keep the baby with the help of his parents. But my question is there any sort of medical insurance from the state for expecting mothers. And also what are the requirements and lastly how long will it take to "kick in" so she can go to the doctors.
