I'm confused with the different types of DVI cables, what is the difference between them?

I recently upgraded my graphics card (to a Powercolour ATi 4890) and it only has 3 video outputs, 2 DVI and what appears to be S-Video. Previously I had been using VGA, so I can output through my TV (which doesn't support DVI). I was thinking of buying a new 24" BenQ E2420HD monitor and a DVI cable but then I found out there are different types of DVI; DVI-I (Single and dual link), DVI-D (single and dual link) and DVI-A are the ones I have learnt of. I have identified the DVI ports on the card to be DVI-I Dual link, but the only DVI cables available were DVI-D Dual link. Would the DVI-D cable still be compatible with the DVI-I ports on my card and will I have any issues with connecting to the above mentioned monitor?
