I'm bicycling from Sacramento to Los Angeles...?

I am not from california and have only been there a couple of times. I'm planning on taking rt 99 over the course of 4 days....I was wondering if anyone who lived out there and maybe cycles would have any tips for me to more or less make it alive haha. thank you

take lots of water because you'll be cycling in the desert.
the 5 is closer but probably not as scenic.
the terrain is flat until you get to the grapevine. then you''ll have a about a 2,000 ft- 3,000 ft climb over the Tejon pass.
you may want to get a ride up the hill.

I drive through that route quite a bit, but I'm no cyclist. I have never seen anyone one bicycles on the freeway either. Just want to wish you good luck and have a safe trip. There are a lot of places you can stop there for food and rest. Stop by Cool Hand Luke's in Tulare if you can, very good steak house =]
