That kind of thing happened to me on the street a ways back with a story of having to get home & a lost wallet but the difference was I told the guy I'd take care of the taxi driver when he came. Guy started stammering of how he didn't want to trouble me & when I insisted, mumbled FU as he walked off...

Keep looking out for people but just don't step too far out on a limb. There's always some idiot out there waitin' with a saw...

In any situation where I find myself being asked for monies, I always make it a decision to consider it a gift, not a loan. That way, if I don't get payed back, it's no big deal, because it was a gift. And that way, if I can't afford to give it away, I don't.
