I was recently involved in a car accident. I am 17 years old and i wasnt on anybodys insurance, and i borrowed my brothers car to go get my girlfriend. ON my way back some guy sped up came into the near lane and incidently i hit the side of his car. I know for a fact it wasn't my fault, and he accusably made up lies such as, he beeped his horn, he has a witness, and that i didnt see him. I checked both ways twice and i know for a fact he wasn't there, so he had to be speeding and he switched lanes. Since he is a lawyer he thinks he can easily boss me around and sue my brother for 4500$ for car damages when his door has a meer dent on the side not serious nough, and if we dont pay within 2 days he wants to sue for 25,000$. What do i do?? =S

So you hit another car, and the owner is suing you.

So what?

That's how it goes.

Next time, obey the law, and don't drive if you're not allowed to.

Also "i know for a fact he wasn't there," is complete BS. You hit his car, right? Which means, FOR A FACT, that he was there. You can't hit something that isn't there.

Stop acting like a kid, and take responsibility.

"incidently i hit the side of his car"

Unless HE HIT YOU, you're at fault. No two ways about it. If you hit another car, it is YOUR fault.

Also, a minor dent on a car can easily cost $3000 or more, once you calculate body work, paint, etc. Depending on what car he owns, that estimate is completely reasonable. I had a small crack in a rear bumper for a Honda, and the estimate was over $2k.

Nevermind that you had no insurance and had absolutely zero reason to be driving anyway.

So, in short, you broke the law, damaged someone else's car, and now they want to sue you.

What part, exactly, doesn't make sense to you?
