I'm 16 and going to buy a 2003 Ford Escape...?

I have been looking at this car and am going to test drive it today. What should I look for when I drive it. Also my friends are all getting cars, will I fit in with a small SUV. Do guys like girls who drive SUV's.
Do you all recommend a Ford Escape for me?
