So, I am thinking the ignition switch, not the part you stick the key in, but the part under the hood, which obviously pulls power from the battery, has gone bad. I have just moved away from most family and ppl who could help me diagnose and repair this problem. We also moved 25 miles from our jobs. So, the car worked fine, then yesterday, a day off, and the car was never moved. When we got in this morning to leave, a couple things. There were no lights left on, and the battery isn't dead, I don;t think. The radio, lights, horn, etc are all in working order. Then, when you switch the kay forward again, all the lights, etc go off, and the car DOES NOT START. First, alternator and starter cross my mind, but everything else works, so I figure alt. is good, it makes ZERO sound, no clicks, nothing to signify it is trying to turn over. I am not great with working on cars aside from changing the occasional tire or oil change or a belt here and there, but this is an issue which we have to fix, as cheaply as possible, and as soon as possible. Any information, ideas, or thoughts on this issue? Anyone had to take a car in for this kind of issue remember about what the cost of parts were and labor? Or does anyone think it may be something else?
