If you've upgraded to Mavericks that likely means you've also upgraded to the new versions of the apps in the iWork suite. It turns out that Apple stripped out a ton of features like custom toolbars, vertical rulers, and (confusingly) accurate word counts in these updated versions, but they'll be bringing them back over the next six months.
