If you're at a restaurant and you find something in your food?

This hasn't happened to me that I know of, but if it ever does... I'm sure you've all heard stories about people at eating places finding something bad in their food, like a finger, a razor blade, a cockroach, or some sperm. You hear about people suing and getting ridiculous amounts of money.

My question is, what do you do when you find whatever it is. Do you tell the manger? But wouldn't they just offer you a free meal to get you out of there? wouldn't they lose their job? Do you call your lawyer, or take a picture, do you call the cops? So how do thease people that get paid prove what happened?
 
I guess that first I would take a picture and show what I have found to other customers to have witnesses. Then I'll call the manager and a lawyer.
