stafford looks like a lock but sanchez is getting a lot of attention now

Crabtree of course. If I am a smart GM, I take Stafford and hope for the best/
 
Stafford with the first pick and the best offensive linemen with their other first rounder.
 
stafford has more talent...period. thats who you take. he will not play this year, so you have all the picks this year, and next year to build around him with OL and defense.
 
Grammatical issues of the question aside, I will answer this. I am a Lions fan and would be incredibly disappointed if we took Stafford. Football Outsiders did a great study on quarterbacks with Stafford-like numbers in college and only Matt Ryan panned out (and his sample size is only 1 year). Stafford is too inconsistent and not a sure enough of a thing to drop that kind of money into.

Can't take Curry, despite the "sure thing" status. The Lions only LB need is a natural MLB, which Curry is not, and Sims and Peterson can't move inside either. Also, too much money would be spent on the LB position.

Jason Smith is the pick. It allows an over-matched Jeff Backus to move inside to guard and provide some OL stability for the upcoming years. It might be a boring pick, but it's the right one.
