If your kids made headlines in the local paper and you were proud of that would you

want to hear this? ugh, well I would definately be proud, but as a person whose kids didn't make the front page, I also would wonder why the newspaper printed that story. There is much more important news out there and lots of volunteers. (But it is nice to know that kids volunteer and do good things too)
It's about a q&a on here where a mum asked about how others would feel about their kids making the front page and added hers did and she was happy.
The added note above was a comment by what I feel is a jealous mom to this woman.
 
It may be a small town, in witch case there may not be any big news. I grew up in a small town and we would end up in a newspaper if we so much as made student of the week.
 
It depends how it's asked. I would probably be a little offended if someone asked, with a tone or atitude, why they would choose to write about the event because there's really no need for a tone, only a congratulations for being honored in the paper. But if someone asked with just general curiosity, i wouldn't mind at all.

The fact is, the local paper isn't for ground breaking hard news 100%...it's for telling people about what's going on in their community and surrounding communities. Kids from the schools are always being mentioned in our local paper for the things they accomplish or do in our community, the same with adults. People should be happy for their friends' kids or thier kids when they get honored in the paper...they shouldn't be saying "why in the world would they waste space on that?"
 
Well, I know if MY kid were on the front page (for something GOOD....not becuase they were involved in a OJ Simpson style road chase, for instance.) The newspaper would sure have me roped into buying their paper!

That's really what it's about. Selling papers. Fluff stories sell papers in an age where the mentality is "If it bleeds, it leads"

So yeah, lay some GOOD news on me for a change.
 
im not really sure what you are talking about, is this about a specific story? i need a little more info.
