They Have To Sign By Law? I have a friend who has asked his wife many times for a divorce and she wont budge. He doesn't know what will happen if he serves her with the divorce papers because she has already said she will not sign them..what happens next..?

Maybe she is afraid to go to court? In that case there can be a waiver of court appearance in the documentation of divorce decree, where all she has to do is sign and he shows up to court, done deal.

she doesn't have to sign. he serves her and she has maybe 3 months or something like that. then he gets a court date and they are divorced.

It depends upon the state. In most of them a default divorce decree is granted after the spouse has been served the papers and refused to sign. The length of time depends upon the state.

she doesn't have to sign and they can still get divorced. a good lawyer will get you thru the paperwork and court appearances
