If you put an AT&T sim card into a T-Mobile phone will the T-Mobile phone work?

I have ATT and i want a smart phone but i dont want to pay the required data plans for the phones. Please help.

Yes, provided the T-Mobile phone is unlocked from its locked network.What is your mobile model?I suggest you can approach Unlocking4free.com (free for basic mobile model) or Simpleunlocking.com and remove the network lock.Once unlocked you can swap networks.
