...are all-terrains good enough? I’m planning on getting a new truck, but I've never owned a true 4WD before (just a 2WD Ranger) and I was wondering if high quality all terrain/all weather tires are enough to truly take advantage of the 4WD in bad weather? I know that in most states that get super heavy snow fall most 4WD owners will have winter tires put on until warmer weather.
But what about if you only get 1-2 feet of snow at a time like we do and you need a true 4WD truck to get out because you live out on a country road that doesn't get paved? Would regular all-terrain tires be enough then? Also, do you still need to have plenty of weight in the bed over the rear axle in a 4WD pick-up like you do in a 2WD? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
