Never doing sports in middle school or clubs means NOTHING. As long as you can play sports, understand the rules, and are good, you can get into them. Just remember you have to try out. ANYONE can join clubs, that's the point of them. Gathering different people that have the same interests. You can't not be good at a club because of that. Jeez, our high school had every club under the sun, from DECA (marketing club), Key Club (community service), anime, to theater, yearbook, and the 'kids-who-wanted-to-linger-at-school club.' I'm totally serious about that last one too.
Joining any sort of extracurricular is excellent for colleges. It's extrememly recommended. Even if you have 4.0 but you have no extracurrics, colleges can still choose someone who has a 3.5 and 2 clubs over you. They want to know that you didn't just waste away studying. They want to know you're well rounded by getting out there, and DOING things.
