...Zafon, what do you think of it?
Zafon, a native of Spain, has won much acclaim for this work, which is also available in English translation. I've heard that the book is excellent, so I've just ordered it from Amazon.
If anybody here has read it, I would welcome your opinion of it.
Here's the story line:
Julian Carax, a fictional Spanish writer, mysteriously disappears in 1940's Barcelona, Spain. Ten-year-old Daniel Sempere becomes obsessed with Carax's work, after having discovered one of his novels, titled "The Wind's Shadow", in the secret Library of Forgotten Books.
For the next decade, Sempere "....follow's the writer's ghost through a labyrinth of love, sex, violence, friendship, and betrayal." (Amazon) The novels of the fictional Carax blend with those of Zafon throughout the book.
Zafon is being compared to Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Jorge Luis Borges, by the way.
