I'm writing a paper on the issues with the Android OS and I would greatly appreciate your help by answering the following questions about it. I need as many people as will be willing to answer.

1. What did you like or dislike about the Android OS?

2. Of all of the problems reported (incompatible apps, gmail account setups, installing apps to an SD card, etc), which one do you think is the worst?

3. How might you go about fixing the problem, if you could?

4. Do you believe the issues reported might be enough to put android phones to rest for good, or have they gained too much of a following to be slowed down?

5. Do you believe that if Android was not open software, developed by google and only by google, that it might work more effectively or less so?

6. Overall, would you recommend this OS for everyday call/text/internet users?

If you'd be so kind as to give me your name, age, and career/job/affiliation that would be great.

I lol'd hard at this. Apple market research? Ok, Becks, I'll bite. 1. The only issues I've ever had with Android have been hardware related, the G1 is fairly limited. With the N1, I haven't had any issues worth complaining about. The OS, on a device with the RAM capable of handling it, is fast and smooth, I love the options you have to customize it, something completely absent on the iPhone. The iPhone is a device built around what Steve Jobs wants to see on his phone every time he turns it on, Android is built around what YOU want to see. I love the widgets, the status bar notifications, the different Home apps available, the fact that I can decide what to do with my phone. 2. The biggest flaw I see is limiting app storage to the internal memory. Google has reported that a fix is on the way shortly, but in the mean time, rooting your phone and installing a custom rom will take care of that limitation. But finding a way to store installed apps onto the memory card will fix what I see as one of the glaring errors with the phones. 3. Answered in the above point. 4. Calling you out as an apple fangirl here, Becks. Stupid question. Just the way its phrased, "Put android to rest for good", yeah, sure. 5. I think that iif it were closed source, there wouldn't be as big a draw, but the question itself is flawed somewhat, its changing the nature of the beast. Ask "If the iPhone wasn't closed sourced, would it be more effective than it is?" Android was built around the open source idea, without that, it isn't Android. 6. Yes, yes, god yes. And for your records, my name is Steven, 35 years old and currently in the retail field, though I've worked in a number of other fields in the past. Hope it helps, and seriously, take another look at how you asked a couple of the questions, it seems to me they come from a "How can we stop Android" frame of mind.

I appreciate the response, however I just want to comment on the fact that I wrote these questions specifically for the purpose of calling out its flaws. I'm not at all an apple fangirl, I personally love Android. The topic of my paper is focusing on its problems and its possible competition with other smartphones. The issues I asked about were only ones I've found in internet reports by others.
I do completely understand where you're coming from on the phrasing of the questions, that was just how I needed to ask them.

I also still need more replies [preferrably if you happen to work for a phone company, even a retail store that would be desirable]
