If you had some extra money...

After exploring the forum I've found that a lot problems people have with channels and shows go back to a lack of what else - money. Now if you had billions and trillions and could have your way, what would you fix?
I'd personally let Jhonen Vasquez finish Invader Zim his way without Viacom or make Nicktoons Network commercial free again.

If I had billions upon trillions of dollars I would make a Cartoon Cartoon channel that would be commercial-free. I would also make a commercial free Toon Disney that can play older stuff like the Classic Shorts.

well as this isn't a network fantasy thread i won't go into detail but let's just say if i had so much power that more than one network was under my control (i.e Murdoch type power) i'd make a few changes. Of course legal restrictions etc would mean this would have to be not only monetary power over the channel but bribing power over the government, for instance if i was to flout copyright laws and show copyrighted works without asking. So i guess it depend on whether you mean 'money' or 'power', because whilst they walk hand in hand there is a distinct difference in such areas as legal issues. If i had not only lots of money but the power to sway any executive, animator, writer etc, i'd certainly make some changes.

First, I'd settle the dispute between Warner Bros. and Turner Broadcasting and get the Looney Tunes back on TV. Then I'd swing by Disney and finish up the DVD releases of their animated shows - the final volumes of "Gargoyles", "Chip 'N Dale", etc. along with sets for "Goof Troop", "Bonkers", and so on (and yes, that includes "Kim Possible"). Then I'd hit Viacom and do the same thing for the Nicktoons.

Now for the pipe dreams. I'd fund all those ideas I have for 2-D animated movies - both my original concepts (Maxine, '94, etc.) and pre-existing properties (FoxTrot, Bloom County, and so on), in my attempt to usher in another 2-D boom. Then I'd go to 20th Century Fox and get my "Meg" spin-off put into production, making sure Seth MacFarlane doesn't come anywhere near it. Then I'd go to Viz or PUSA or whoever is in charge of this sort of thing and finance uncut Japanese subtitled DVD sets of "Pok?mon". Oh, and I'd go back to Warner Bros. and finance my Looney Tunes-based Watchmen parody for a direct-to-DVD release.

In the words of Homer Simpson, "I could do a lot of things if I had some money..."

I'd bring back Toonami and the old Bruce Timm DC shows, either on Cartoon Network or a CN spin-off. It'd also be nice to have a Saturday Morning cartoon network; that'd be easy for someone with a Murdoch level of money to arrange, since most of the shows weren't made by networks but by production companies which would be bought and sold.

I'd pay off the FCC to get rid of that E/I rule, so broadcast stations can show cartoons on weekday mornings and afternoons again, and show decent Saturday morning cartoons without having to go to 4Kids.

How's that sound?

I'd use it to fund my own entertainment company, that would produce animation for television, film, and the internet, produce comics for both online and print, and develop and publish video games.

I'd get John Kricfalusi to do a kid-oriented Ren and Stimpy revival. Well, maybe not kid-oriented. Maybe around Simpsons/Futurama level. I'd also pay for a bunch of other John K. projects if I had money left over.

What? He's my favorite cartoonist.

Get all Looney Tunes released to DVD restored, along with Woody and Tex Avery.
Also get Rocko, and My Life as a Teenage Robot and Dexter's Lab, though that wouldn't be as difficult (as no need for restoration).

Technically some of Rocko's on Amazon's DVD-R, but yeah some good official complete releases with some extras would be awesome. And Dexter really needs a US release.

Oh, the usual... I'd bring Sam and Max back to TV screens, but this time I'd let Bill Farmer and Nick Jameson do the voices of the duo, SO THAT THE SERIES CAN HAVE SOME AUTHENTICITY FOR A CHANGE! GOT THAT, TELLTALE?

What would I do if I had a million dollars?
Priority 1. Save 250,000 dollars for college for my brother and I.
Priority 2. Buy channel space on dish or direct tv and save 500,000 to operate it.
Priority 3. Buy the Hanna barbera library from Turner.
Priority 4. Buy the DCAU(optional) or/and Looneytunes from Warner.
Priority 5. Buy rights to various Funimation programming.
Priority 6. Buy the rights to other interesting anime(i.e. Naruto Shippuden).(optional)
Priority 7. Buy the rights to air all Disney television animation from 1991 thru 2005.(optional)
Priority 8. Buy the rights to all Nick origional live action from 1996 thru 2005.
Priority 9. Buy the rights to all Disney live action from 1995 thru 2005.(optional)
Priority ten. Buy rights to at least one of the following: The Simpsons(seasons 1 thru 10), King of the Hill, American Dad, Family Guy(Seasons 1 thru three only), or South Park(seasons 1 thru 8 only).(optional)
Priority 11. Buy a staition.
Priority 12. Pitch to advertisers.
Prority 13. Hire crew.
Priority 14. Launch with the first episode of One Piece.

But that would be censorship, something I am very much against (and I thought most people here also were). Plus I actually think American Dad is pretty good.

But I digress, probably the first thing that comes to mind that hasn't mentioned already is the idea of getting the planned but then quietly canceled Ren & Stimpy Ultimate DVD set made and released. A little background first: There were plans, around 2005-2006 to release a DVD set of all Ren & Stimpy material (Spumco, Games and Adult Party Cartoon), truly uncut and with some exclusive extras like a booklet, animatics to unproduced episodes, and the unsold He-Hog pilot. Alas, when Viacom and CBS there was an excutive shuffle and plans were abandoned. If I could, I do everything in my power to make sure all the episodes were as complete and unedited as possible, and maybe throw in Marvel's Ren & Stimpy comics as an extras (either in a book or as a DVD-ROM feature). Maybe it could released as a limited edition with only 5,000 or so copies made (like the Walt Disney Treasures), each numbered and signed by John K. with a unique sketch by him.

I'd make changes to CN:
-acquire foreign cartoons (especially an english dub of Wakfu)
-not allow green lighting of any new live-action projects, but allow those being developed to finish their run
-make a huge announcement calling all those who wish to pitch a cartoon series idea to come to CN
-bring back a few old shows, vary the re-runs on the schedule more
-have 5d's re-dubbed by a different company
