legs faster or slower? This is an 9th grade physics question in Harmonic Motion chapter and I think it has something to do with restoring forces. If you have a shorted swing and a longer swing and they both swing at the same angle, the longer swing would end up being a longer distance from the equilibrium point. therefore the restoring force would be spread over a longer distance and would lose its effect. since restoring force is the force that pulls you back to the equilibrium point and it is reduced in this case, you would have to pump your legs faster to keep the swing swinging. it sounds right to me, does it make sense to you? please help! thanks.
