If you could tell Harley engineers to fix something what would it be?

I like the stock radio setup on my '09 Ultra Classic but I sure would like to see a set of 3 buttons on each side of the handlebar mounted audio controls for preset buttons. I don't like the idea of taking my eyes off of the road for any length of time to push one of the presets on the face of the radio.

FLHR - Comfort - Stock Handlebars and sadle. Pretty fundemental stuff really.

A few years back (make that quite a few), the turn signal switch had to be held down for the associated signals to flash and would stop as soon as the switch was released. Then, it made sense to have a switch on each side. Well, lock in signals with cancellation logic have been around for a few years now, HD engineers. There is no longer any need for two huge turn signal switches.

How about revamping the switch controls starting with the turn signals - say ONE NORMAL SIZED right for right, left for left and in to cancel switch? That way we could could have a horn switch on the bottom, a standard '70's generation turn signal in the middle and HI/LO beam switch on the top on the left side. The change would also free up some prime switch space on the right side.

And when some jack wagon pulls out in front of me, maybe I could just one time lay on the horn instead of laying on the left turn signal...

My only complaints are:
1. Oil filter orientation
2. Valve stem design

I've already changed anything else I needed to make it mine. I'm sure glad the MoCo didn't do all the changes listed in this thread, some are downright stupid.

Hey man this is probably one of the finest threads I've ever read! Here's my suggestions to the "tech" wizards who don't ride but think they've got any business being in R & D:
1. Figure something out to replace those pathetic saddle bag springs that break religiously every six months.
2. Go back to one turn signal button to activate both turn signals like the old Honda's used to have.
3. Find a clear coat that won't scratch when you look at it! And while you're at it, get a better scheme for the inner fairing paint---two years in the sun and it looks like it's been on there for 10 years!
4. Give me a rear touring tire that goes more than 10K! I don't ride these things up and down my driveway...I go cross country.
5. 10-4 on the inner fairing brackets...make 'em so they don't break at 5K miles
6. Put on a stock center stand so we don't have to spend $250 on an after market one.
I'm sure there's more, but I'm wearing myself out. Don't get me wrong, my Electraglides have consistently been the most comfortable touring rides I've ever been on and I've been at this for over 40 years. I love my Harleys...I just ain't in love with the upkeep that suggests I'm hard on these bikes when I'm not!

1600cc vrod touring option

electra glide standard ( no radio) back in the line up

make it easier for us 2010+ owners to pull the cat and install slip-ons.... come on, who put the cat in the headpipe? Do like Triumph and offer a cat-delete pipe from the dealer.
