Well look at it this way, Marine Boot Camp is to turn you into a Marine, it should be somewhat challenging otherwise being a Marine wouldn't mean as much as it does now. Marines and Rangers are way 2 different things. One is a branch where everyone in it is a Marine, while the Rangers are Elite Light Infantry, under the command of SOCOM I believe.

To be a Ranger in a Ranger Battalion you have to be Airborne Qualified, to be a Marine you dont. Ranger school is 9 weeks long. RIP(Ranger Indoctrination Program) is 4 weeks long before being assigned to the Ranger Regiment. Pre-Ranger (before admittance to Ranger School) is 2 weeks long. Airborne School is 4 weeks long. Infantry Basic/AIT is 14 weeks long. Thats 33 weeks training for a Ranger Battalion Member Minimum. How Long is USMC Boot Camp, School of Infantry? 18 weeks total? ?

The amount of training the special forces get is about the total training a marine gets IN boot camp.

But hey, I'm biased.

Plus, an army special ranger still isn't a MARINE.

The rangers are just emulating the USMC. The USMC was designed to be an expeditionary light infantry force. If anything, the Corps is just one big special rangers force on crack. They've been doing it longer, and better.

The USMC does 90% of the fighting and takes 15-20% of the casualties, whereas army is around 80%.

If you think army ranger school is hard, you're not ready for war.
