major sympathetic characters was a? total murderous, idiotic, genocidal jacka*s, no one would get offended, and as a matter of fact, most of us here would get into the back-and-forthing, discussing the weakness of this major character and wondering why the author wrote him/her that way. But if we do essentially the same thing, and really dissect some of the narrative thrusts in the 'bible', exposing a major character ('god') as a total, incompetent, foolish, angry, petulant, and immature butthead, some people take deep offense.
