If there were no terrorist attacks before 9-11, and there was no Gitmo before 9-11?

How is Gitmo crucial to preventing terrorist attacks? Just curious, as we somehow mysteriously prevented any major attacks before 2001, and also avoided compromising the principles of the US. Clinton must have ben one hell of a president. I guess he did it by reading intel reports like "Bin Ladin determined to attack the US using aircrafts as weapons" You know, like the one Bush got on vactationwhoops....vacation

No terrorist attacks before 9-11? The first time the WTC were bombed wasn't terrorism? The USS Cole wasn't either? Pan Am 103 not terrorism? What would you call these events?

So if we killed you, will all the ignorant people quit trolling the boards?According to your logic, there seems to be a connection, you still live, trolling still goes on....post hoc ergo propter hochttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Correlation_does_not_imply_causationFirst, gitmo has existed for decades.Second, the truth is, there have been plenty of terrorist attacks after Gitmo was created - all of which were committed by those backed by the USA.Not all acts of terrorism are committed by our enemies. Under the Bush Administration, we've become the biggest terrorists on the planet.

Obviously you live under a rock. There were numerous terrorist attacks on US Military targets during Clinton's presidency, like the Cole and US Embassies throughout the world. And the U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay has been a holding of the U.S. since 1903.

Actually Clinton hit Saddam Hussein hard during Operation Desert Fox, a 4 day mission that took out the power plant and other military targets, not civilians, and he did it without getting one American military killed!Guessed who opposed it? Republicans! We could have stopped a large loss of life by shooting the planes down, which is what should have been done. To this day, if 9/11 is what Bush said it was, and I have my doubts, where was our air defense? Yes we would have lost some, who we lost anyway, but the trades would still be there! Many of the terrorist attacks in this country were carried out by Americans like Oklahoma and Atlanta!Clinton stopped many!

The govt did 9/11 and Clinton was as much a part of it as The Bush Family and the media that covered it up.

9/11 was the last not the first terrorist attack on US soil... why do you think so many people have respect for Bush?? He truly has kept America safe.

It is easy for you to come to these conclusions when you use fallacious premises to back up your statements. I'm pretty sure we got attacked between 5-10 times during Clinton's 8 years. This includes the first attack on the WTC and the Embassy in Africa that was nearly leveled. It was Al Queda that was attacking our soldiers in Somalia (Blackhawk Down) when Clinton had us turn tail and run.No ones gives a crap if Gitmo stays open, it is the releasing of the prisoners (who 95% of the time go back to killing Americans) that is the real Issue.By Geneva convention law there are two classifications of people 1. Combatants 2. Non Combatants. In the Combatant classification there are 2 sub categories. If you wear the uniform of a sovereign nation then you are a "soldier" and if captured, you are protected as a POW and you are held without trial until the end of hostilities. The Geneva convention FORBIDS POWs from being put on trial.. If you are not wearing the uniform of a sovereign nation then you are classified as a SPY and you have no rights or protection under the Geneva convention and in fact can be legally summarily executed on the battlefield.Either case (soldier or spy) there is nothing illegal with holding them in prison at Gitmo or anywhere else.

After all the attacks on American embassies USS Cole and others, George Bush's first act as President was to VETO a bill that gave a slight raise to the intelligence community's budget. It was about 1 1/2 billion dollars. He was a bungler right from the start. Bush never cared about human beings, or rule of law, or anything else, other than his political image. Speaking of vacation - no other President in history had anywhere near the amount of vacation time that was logged by that incompetent fool.

She's right, there was Oklahoma City '95 and WTC '93. But you're right too; Closing Gitmo won't make Dick Cheney attack us again.
