If there was another Ninja Turtles series what would you like to see?

Hypothetically TMNT takes a break until the "revival movie" and returns to TV around that time or shortly after. Would it be better to stick even closer to the comics (hard to do on Saturday mornings mind you but maybe it could be a PG animated series on CN or something), re-imagine the 80s cartoon and it's characters or perhaps mix the Mirage comics with the 80s cartoon combining the elements of both and maybe a bit of the 2003 (I'd at least like to see Bishop again he's a great character).

I honestly don't think we'll see something closer to the comics unless it's a DTV made by a company that knows TMNT was once a very gritty black and white comic. Laird doesn't seem too interested in marketing TMNT in that manner but at the same time he probably wouldn't give the okay to remake the 80s cartoon because he supposedly doesn't like various attributes and characters from that version of the Ninja Turtles.

Personally I'd like to see Laird give in just a bit and allow the next Ninja Turtles cartoons to be a combonation of just about everything we've seen before (baring Image TMNT and Next Mutation which should never be spoken off ever again). Mirage, Archie, Old Toon, New Toon and perhaps some things common with the movies made thus far (at least TMNT 2007).

It's actually not too hard to come up with how they could include all those characters from various versions of the Ninja Turtles. Krang could be an Utrom rather than Shredder. He could introduce Oroku Saki (still a terrifying individual of incredible martial arts prowess) to the technology of the Utroms. The Utroms would come to earth and their chemical waste would still be what transformed the turtles but when Krang the rouge Utrom discovers what the ooze can do he and Shredder create the mutants from the old cartoon and Archie comics only this time most of them aren't bumbling fools that can easily be put away.

April, Casey, Baxter Stockman, Leatherhead and the Rat King would exist more as their comic iterations rather than the old toon.

Karai would come in at some point being much like her comic self.

I'd like to see Bishop be the government element that makes it essential for the Turtles to stay out of sight.

Triceratons, Utroms and The Fugitoid would be important characters as well.

NOT EVERYTHING relates back to The Shredder and his plans to conquor the world but a lot of things do.

As for the Turtles... Make them like the 2007 movie Turtles. That seems quite in line with the comics, Donatello has a bit more bite to him and Raphael is even more of a loner than he was in the 2003 cartoon.

As for Pizza... yeah have it but within reason. It's a fun quirk and I like it.

4kids series did about everything it could to lampoon the old cartoon. I say embrace some of what made that cartoon memorable but have a serious side as well. The best of both worlds.

So... what are your ideas?

I'd like to see it be a mix of both the 80's and current show.

Have the stronger, more serious material like the 03 show, but don't be so continuity heavy so that you have to watch every episode to get what's going on. Less multi-part stories and more single, standalone tales.

More of a Spectacular Spider-Man model is what I'd like to see. Have a growing story but make it more stand-alone feeling so people don't feel lost.

I would like to see some of the humor from the 80's cartoon and the more recent 2k3 cartoon but with some anime-esq elements and maybe a slightly darker and more violent backgrop to the story. I would love a more mature version of TMNT, but not too over the top that it couldn't air on CN or Nicktoons after 8pm or anything......

I would like to see some elements brought over from the Archie comic. Pretty much a more muture 80's toon series. So I guess I'll go with a mix of both.

Honestly, while the Turtles themselves are great, what I miss are some of those ally characters they came up with for the old cartoon, toyline and Archie comic. Like Ace Duck, Ray Fillet and Mondo Gecko. I don't suppose we could get a Mighty Mutanimals cartoon instead at this point, could we? :p

Personally, I wouldn't care if the new TMNT was a reboot or not as long as it was good. Continuity isn't everything, and after sending the Turtles off into the future and back and then marrying off Casey and April, I think that the producers have literally done all that they could with the 2K3 series.

As for what I'd personally like to see, one TMNT series that combined the best elements of both the 1987 syndicated series and the 2K3 series would be great.

But a reboot would be the same thing again. How many times must we see the Turtles meet April for the first time, hear the origin story, meet Shredder for the first time...etc?

2011 is only 2 years from now. Why should there be a reboot when the current TMNT series hasn't even truly finished yet? The TMNT DTV doesn't come out till November, so technically TMNT 2k3 doesn't end until November.

I'm not going to argue about this. That's just my opinion. Anyway, where's it carved in stone that a reboot would contain a retelling of the Turtles origin? Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes didn't have an origin story. Neither did Wolverine and the X-Men. You're just assuming that a TMNT reboot would start from the very beginning. It wouldn't have to.

Well even if they didn't start from scratch, I still feel its too soon.

Why make another cartoon only a year and a half from now, when most kids are now familiar with 2k3? There won't be a new gen of kids in only a year and a half from now.

Cause as long as the toy companies have any say in the matter, new versions will keep being made. Look at how many different versions of Transformers there have been. And I'm betting that as long as Playmates has any say in the matter, new versions of TMNT will keep being made.

The current version of TMNT is defintely past its prime. The Fast Forward and Back To The Sewer seasons have been ok, but they were no where near as good as the first five seasons. So I actually would rather see the current version come to an end, than have the show get out of control (The Simpsons).

I doubt the next TMNT cartoon will be as good as 2k3 was.

I'd love to see Bruce Timm direct a TMNT cartoon, but sadly he is way too busy at the WB to ever do such a thing. Bruce Timm working on the TMNT franchise would be like a dream come true. We can cast Kevin Conroy as the voice of Splinter.

It'd be brilliant!

How many people said "I doubt the next TMNT cartoon will be as good as the 80s one" and while some still hold on to that opinion most people with a broader appreciation for TMNT beyond the old cartoon know which series is superior. It was a miracle that 4kids made something awesome for 5 seasons and kept the franchise pretty strong for a few more. But who is to say someone better couldn't come along and make a TMNT series that's truely fantastic? Someone who grew up on TMNT (though I imagine some of the TMNT staff at 4kids did grow up on the old cartoons or Mirage comics), someone who knows TMNT and could work with Laird to make an even better show.

Remakes usually don't pan out but you never know...

Would I like to see more of the 2003 series? Yes and no. Yes if they brought the quality back up to par with the first 5 seasons and no if they keep it about the same as Back to the Sewers. Back to the Sewers was better than Fast Forward but if that's where TMNT 2003's time line was going to stay I'd rather they quit while the show still has dignity.

There's more stories to be told yes but that show has already jumped the shark and there's seemingly no going back.

Bruce Timm do TMNT? Well he can probably make any comic cartoon great but then again he's not infallable. I'd like to see Greg Wiseman take on TMNT but for now I'm more than happy with him and Tad Stones making Spider-Man the best it's ever been on television. But should Spidey's web get cut short (which wouldn't be suprisingy... sadly) if they would team up again to make a new TMNT cartoon that would be sensational.

Speaking of that, have the turtles stopped enjoying pizza as much since the original animated series ended? Pizza was rarely mentioned on The Next Mutations (in the first episode when Michaelangelo asks if anybody wants a pizza, the others groan and say "grow up!", and I recall him mentioning pizza in another episode), and I don't think pizza was mentioned at all in TMNT. I believe I read somewhere that the turtles didn't eat pizza much in the 2000s series, either. Did the creators eve ntually have an objection to pizza or something?

Not sure about Next Mutation (according to Laird, it NEVER existed), but the reason the Turtles didn't each too much pizza in 2K3 is more to do with sticking to the comics, where pizza was just a food that showed up every so often but wasn't the only thing the Turtles ate. It's not so much hating the "turtles love pizza" concept, just that it was unnecessary to revive.

IMO, I don't know how I'd like to see another Turtles cartoon done...2K3 basically got as close to the source material as any saturday morning cartoon can get. That's why I think the best thing would be to get the show off Saturday mornings and onto prime time.

I mean, think of the possibilities that a Ninja Turtles series on Cartoon Network in prime time could have...

I would like a mix the feel of 80's series, and the maturity of 2003 series. I would also be interested in seeing stories quite similar to the TMNT CGI Film.

:D That movie was boss! :D
